The Andrew Bradley Prize is awarded to the medical student delivering the best scientific paper at the annual meeting of the SRS. The student reading the paper must be the principal researcher and first author of the presented work. The prize consists of a certificate and a monetary award. The Andrew Bradley Prize was established in 2024.

Andrew Bradley – Biography

Andrew Bradley PhD FRCS FMedSci is Emeritus Professor of Surgery at the University of Cambridge. He was Professor of Surgery and Immunology at the University of Glasgow and then Professor of Surgery and Head of the Department of Surgery in Cambridge from 1998 until his retirement in 2016. He is a past president of the SRS (at the time called the Society of Academic and Research Surgeons), the British Transplantation Society and the British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. He also served as treasurer and subsequently secretary of the World Transplantation Society. His clinical interests centred around renal transplantation, but he was active in all areas of general surgery. His research programme was both clinical and experimental, with an emphasis on transplant immunology. In addition, he taught surgery to a generation of medical students and inspired many to follow a career in surgery. He was the editor of the journal Transplantation for many years and a Trustee of Kidney Research UK for 6 years.
